Vasundhara Mutta was born in Kharagpur, West Midnapore district, West Bengal. She completed her B.Sc. (Physics Honors) and M.Sc. (Physics), specializing in solid-state physics, from Vidyasagar University, and earned her Ph.D. in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. She worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), South Korea, for nearly three years as a B2K Fellow. She then moved to the Denmark Technological University (DTU), formerly the Riso National Laboratory, as a Postdoctoral Scientist. After a brief tenure at DTU, she joined the CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR-NIIST), Trivandrum, where she served as a Scientist for seven and a half years. She later moved to the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), Hyderabad, where she is currently working as a Senior Principal ScientistHer research interests include advanced functional materials—such as permanent magnets, thermoelectric materials, magnetic refrigeration materials, and magnetic nanomaterials—for energy and biomedical applications.
